WINNIPEG, Man. — A Canadian-made, portable fuel and oil freight container known as the Transtainer is making a splash in the barge industries, according to manufacturer Western Environmental Canada. The hybrid bulk fuel tank was launched last winter and originally intended for the construction, mining, logging and farming sectors. Officials say the tank can be used to transport and store bulk fuels as well as dangerous liquids, by road, rail and sea.
“Transtainer customers are already reporting savings in time, handling costs and environmental fees,” Western Environmental Canada said in a release.
The Transport Canada-approved tank can handle up to 21,000 litres of diesel, gasoline and aviation fuel, and new and used oil. It is double walled, CSC certified, ULC approved and IMDG compliant. Officials say the Transtainer is also durable, weatherproof, vandal proof and can power up to four generators at a time.
