Manufacturers seek Québec suppliers

MONTRÉAL, Que.–STIQ has set up more than 500 business meetings between 30 high-profile prime manufacturers and some 150 Québec-based SMEs for the 9th edition of its Buyer/Supplier Day, taking place today.

“Strengthening the various links in the supply chains is vital to improving our industries’ competitiveness on the world stage,” said Richard Blanchet, Chief Executive Officer, STIQ.

“Buyer/Supplier Day enables this convergence of supply and demand, providing our local SMEs with an initial point of contact with prime manufacturers which isn’t always easy to do. For those buyers, it’s an opportunity to meet 15 to 30 potential suppliers in a single day, so it’s a quick and efficient way of discovering new procurement sources. The first contacts made at this event have often led to important contracts being awarded to Québec-based suppliers, because our method maximizes the chances of success,” he said.

STIQ said it pays careful attention to matching expertise provided by the SMEs with the concrete supply requirements expressed by the prime manufacturers. That attention to detail means that each company attends relevant meetings, with those precious few minutes optimized by the “speed meeting” format.

STIQ is welcoming a record number of prime manufacturers this year. These major international players, active in Canada, the U.S. and France, are seeking qualified suppliers to fill specific needs in various industry segments.
