TORONTO, Ont.–For the first time in the award’s history, the CITT Award of Excellence has been given to more than one winner. CITT has announced that Andrew Dixon, CCLP, Senior VP, Trade and Business Development at Port Saint John, and Mary Waring, CCLP, CEO of Western Logistics Inc., have both been selected by the panel of judges to receive the award. The panel was unable to decide on one individual, as both winners have demonstrated deep commitment to professional excellence, dedication to CITT, and strong leadership both in their organizations and in their communities.
“Typically, the Award of Excellence is given annually to a single professional as recognition of their entire career of experience, professional excellence, and leadership in CITT and beyond” said Catherine Viglas, CITT President. “However, this year the field of nominees was of such high caliber that the judges simply couldn’t pick just one winner. It goes to show that as CITT has matured as an organization, our members’ careers have matured, and they have become superstars of the supply chain logistics industry.”
Both Andrew Dixon, CCLP, and Mary Waring, CCLP have been active leaders with CITT for over 25 years, including time on the Board of Directors. And both have achieved incredible professional success. Dixon has worked in leadership roles in a diverse set of positions in trucking, stevedoring, marine, and distribution/warehousing. Waring’s leadership has been one of the most important factors behind Western Logistics growing from a start-up in the 1990s to a national organization from BC to Newfoundland now making forays into the international space.
“I am deeply appreciative of receiving this unexpected recognition by an organization and individuals that I have had the privilege of being associated with for over a quarter century now. My colleagues in CITT and in the logistics Industry at large are an impressive group of professionals, and I can assure you that any contributions or accomplishments that I have been a part of during my career are truly a result of team effort, and a passion for collaboration,” Dixon said.
“I am extremely honored to receive this Award of Excellence from CITT. CITT has been a very important part of my career development and I am thankful for the education and the support of my peers in this special group,” said Waring.
Both winners will be presented with their awards at Canada Logistics Conference 2015 during the Gala Awards Dinner on October 27th.
