JACKSONVILLE, Fla. APL Logistics has been recognized for safety and environmental responsibility in freight management by the world’s top chemical manufacturers.
The American Chemistry Council this month recognized Singapore-based APL Logistics under the trade association’s Responsible Care initiative. The 20-year-old program mandates that the council’s approximately 200 member companies and their partners including transport and logistics companies operate stringent programs to safeguard manufacturing, handling and shipping of chemicals. Certification was presented to the APL Logistics’ Jacksonville, Fla, Freight Management office after the company passed an independent audit of its Responsible Care Management System. The audit assesses the policies, procedures and performance of companies involved with chemical handling for American Chemistry Council members.
APL Logistics manages ocean, rail and truck transport for the world’s leading chemical manufacturers. Many manufacturers require Responsible Care Management System certification as a prerequisite in awarding shipping contracts.
