EDMONTON, Alta.–Today Edmonton International Airport (EIA), along with 23 other airports across Canada, kicks-off Canadian Airports Safety Week, a new airport-led initiative to promote healthy and safe work practices among airport employees.
The first program of its kind for the Canadian aviation industry, Canadian Airports Safety Week aims to reach thousands of airport employees across the country with themed safety talks each day, which were developed in collaboration by participating airports.
“Safety is a core value of Edmonton Airports at both of the airports we manage, EIA and Villeneuve. Prevention of all workplace injuries and illnesses is integrated into everything we do, everyone is responsible for safety with myself having overall accountability,” says Tom Ruth, President and CEO of Edmonton Airports.
EIA said it will be hosting a variety of activities throughout the week to promote the daily safety messages to its airport employment community. It will also be hosting a Vehicle Operations “Road-AO” on Thursday, August 27, which will be open to media.
Currently in its first year, there are 24 airports across Canada participating in the Canadian Airports Safety Week initiative.
