Air Canada Cargo advises customers of Chilean Customs strike

MONTREAL, Que.– Air Canada Cargo has advised its customers of a strike at Chilean Customs, which in accordance with ANFACH, the Chilean Customs Union, went on strike beginning Wednesday, May 20 with an indefinite duration. Local operations indicate that delays are possible both for imports and exports, to and from Chile, the airline advised.

Imports to SCL:

  • Live animals, human remains and perishable shipments will be released upon arrival in SCL

    (Santiago de Chile), but clearance may be delayed.

  • All other commodities are going to be held and stored in the customs warehouse until the end of the strike

Exports from SCL:

  • Live animals and human remains shipments are not impacted by this strike
  • Perishable shipments may be exported, but the export process may be delayed
  • All other commodities are subject to delays
