DARTMOUTH, N.S.–An initiative to raise funds through the Canadian Red Cross in support of the fire relief in Fort McMurray saw $10,000 donated on behalf of the employees and owners of the Seaboard Transport Group of Companies.
In November 2015 the employees of the Seaboard Transport Group of Companies partnered with the Canadian Red Cross as a Ready When the Time Comes Partner. Through this partnership employees chose to dedicate two days per year with the Red Cross’s Ready When the Time Comes Partnership. Employees in Atlantic Canada as well as Central Canada have completed training and are now ready to be called to volunteer their time, the company said in a release.
In May during the peak of the wildfires employees from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick volunteered their time in Red Cross call centers taking phone calls and answering questions from displaced persons from the fires. Western operating groups, Seaboard Transport, Wiebe Transport, Mantei’s Transport and R&G Transport of the group of companies worked diligently through May and June to support petroleum deliveries throughout Alberta.
The Seaboard Transport Group said it thanks everyone involved in supporting relief efforts during this unfortunate time and sends best wishes for a safe and happy summer.
