BELLEVUE, Wash.– Trade Tech, a global supplier of cloud-based solutions for the logistics industry, has joined Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) as a supporting member. Trade Tech said it will actively support JIFFA’s efforts to educate the shipping community on industry regulations and the latest IT solutions, including the Japan 24-Hour Ocean Advance Filing Rules (JP24) that go into effect March 1.
“The biggest issue facing the forwarding community right now is the deadline for compliance with the new Japan 24 Hour Rule which is approaching quickly,” says Bryn Heimbeck, CEO of Trade Tech. “We want to help JIFFA ensure that the community in Japan is well educated on the upcoming requirements because if cargo is not manifested in advance, carriers will not load it on board a vessel. Our goal is to help non-vessel operators (NVOCC), carriers (VOCCC), forwarders and beneficial cargo owners (BCOs) avoid any and all penalties by making it easy for them to meet their filing requirements,” says Heimbeck.
Trade Tech established a presence in Japan less than a year ago when it opened an office in Tokyo and is now the only IT provider to be a supporting member of JIFFA. “We are honored to be aligned with JIFFA’s community of Japanese forwarders and to deliver solutions that meet their regional and long-term IT requirements,” says Heimbeck. “JIFFA provides a forum for members to learn about issues they will face in the Japan market and it is very influential in the adoption of new rules and technologies.”
Trade Tech and JIFFA are exploring additional educational opportunities around new cloud-based logistics and supply chain technologies the company is developing, Heimbeck adds. “Our goal is to support JIFFA by developing ways to improve supply chain management using Cloud based IT solutions,” he says.
