TORONTO, Ont.– The Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario has announced an upcoming “ICEBREAKER FUNDRAISER BBQ” on May 22 at the Toronto Mission Station.
According to the Mission, “most of our world is waking up to the knowledge that 90% of everything moves by ship, which means we are all highly dependent on shipping and seafarers. This astounding fact means it is more important than ever that we ensure our seafarers are well served and provided for when in our ports,” it said in a release.
The Missions in Hamilton and Toronto have merged to become the Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario, serving both domestic and international seafarers from Oshawa and Toronto to Hamilton on through the Welland Canal to Port Colborne.
The upcoming event will allow seafarers to check out the new Toronto facilities, meet staff and volunteers and find out more about how they can participate in this exciting new Maritime venture to support the valued work of our Canadian and International Seafaring community.

The event takes place May 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario Headquarters, 8 Unwin Avenue, Pier 51, Toronto (South on Cherry Street, over the South Channel Bridge, turn right at Unwin Ave).
The cost is $75.00 per person, for BBQ lunch, a drink, and a $50.00 charitable receipt.
