NEW YORK, NY.--In a recent meeting the International Road Transport Union (IRU) stressed the importance of road transport in global supply chains.

The meeting brought together participants to discuss the international business community’s role in shaping the new targets for the Post 2015 Development Agenda, and was organised by the Global Business Alliance in parallel to the 5th session of the UN Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals.

Addressing participants at a Private Sector briefing in New York City, IRU Under Secretary General, Igor Rounov, stressed the importance of road transport in global sustainable supply chains and inclusive development, as well as its role in helping transform countries from landlocked to land-linked.  Rounov also highlighted the need for innovative approaches in financing road transport infrastructure.
