GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. -- The County of Grande Prairie is asking interested parties to submit a proposal for the development of a 107-acre Multi-Modal Logistics Park.

The rail-to-truck, truck-to-rail service depot is scheduled to be located within the County, neighbouring the Canadian National Railway where Highways 2 and 43 converge.

Officials in a release noted that when fully developed the park is fully developed, “it will enhance export and import opportunities by reducing transportation costs to and from the region, thereby making products produced here more competitive in the international marketplace.”

“This project will be a significant addition to the region’s ability to provide long-term services to local producers and processors at a site closer to their base of operations,” said Walter Paszkowski, manager of economic development for the County.

County director of planning and development services John Simpson said the Multi- Modal Logistics Park will be “a boost for economic development within the Peace Region by providing timely and efficient handling of materials, the integration of truck/railcar movements, and the coordination of inbound and outbound freight cargoes.”

Proposals must be submitted to the County of Grande Prairie Economic Development Officer by 4 p.m. on Oct. 19. The Expression of Interest is available for download from the Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) here. For more information, contact Paszkowski at 780-513-3956 or e-mail edo@countygp.ab.ca.
